Introduction to HTML

What is HTML?

HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language.

HTML is a simple text file that contains the information to display on a web page. Markup Language is a way to structure the web page.

Example of HTML

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>My First Page title</title>
</head>
<body>

<p>This is a paragraph.</p>

</body>
</html>

To test how this code works save the above code in a file and name it demo.html.To do this you can use any text editor.

HTML Tags

HTML is a markup language and uses various tags for the layout of content.
Tags are enclosed within angle braces. <...>

 <tagname>...</tagname>

Mostly a tag ends with the same tag name having a forward slash '/'.

Browser does not display tags, as they are used to format the content written between the tags.

Tags Uses
<!DOCTYPE> Use to define the document type and Version of HTML
<html> This tag encloses complete HTML document.
<head> This tag encloses some other tags like <title>. It also contains meta data of the document.
<title> This tag is used to give a title to the document.
<body> This tag contain the information which has to be displayed on webpage. It contains other tags also like <h1>,<p>
