Difference between JDK, JRE and JVM

Before going to practical part we should know the difference between JDK, JRE and JVM as they seems bit confusing. After this section you will be able to differentiate between them.


We have already discussed about the JVM in previous section. So here we only discuss about JRE and JDK.


JRE

JRE stands for Java Runtime Environment. It provides various libraries, JVM and other components. It is required to run a java program.

JDK

JDK stands for Java Development Kit. It consists of JRE + development tools such as debuggers, compilers, etc.
