Introduction to Microprocessor
What is a microprocessor?
The word micro stands for small and a processor is a device which has computing i.e. data processing capability.
That is a processor on a single microchip.
Microprocessor uses small number-holding areas called registers to perform arithmetic and logic operations.
AdvantagesWhen a whole processor(CPU) is integrated on single small chip or few chips, then it increases efficiency and reduce the cost of processing power.
The fist microprocessor was the Intel 4004, introduced in 1971. It had a clock speed of 108KHz and 2,300 transisitors with ports for RAM, ROM and I/O. But it was not very powerful
